I Need a Long Weekend
Whatever bug I had left me for someone else. It wasn't nice to leave you hanging, wondering if I crawled up in a hole to die, sorry for that.
I have been suffering with a headache of a different sort the past few days. I have been dealing with some stressful travel arrangements that were set for September for me and 14 others. Delta called me two nights ago and told me that their codeshare partner, Air Jamaica, has stopped all flights to Bonaire. This trip was booked and paid for, and currently the only alternatives would cost about $400 more, per person. I have been dealing with airlines, and pissed off divers for the past two nights. Hopefully, Delta will be successful in arranging a deal with American, and we will go on our merry way without incurring any additional costs. A saga to be continued later.
and Rafe, before I forget, here is my music thang.
Total volume of songs on my pc: 1 gig, close to 500 songs
The last CD I bought was: I pre-ordered The White Stripes 'Get Behind Me Satan', and am waiting for it to arrive in June. Who doesn't like Jack?
Song playing right now: All the Years, by Sawyer Brown
Five songs I listen to that mean alot to me:
Every song I listen to more than once means alot to me. Here are a few that at one time or another, have been stuck in my brain, causing me to then hum, sing, and beat out the rhythm for days on end:
1. Desperado (Eagles) - I've left instructions for this one to be played at my memorial service
2. Double Trouble (SRV) - I miss Stevie Ray Vaughn in a big way, and this remains one of my favorites
3. Turn the Page (Metallica) - I loved the way Metallica did this, it blew me away
4. Layla (Derek and the Dominoes) - what guy cannot relate to this song?
5. The Reason (HoobaStank) - I could identify with the lyrics, along with a few million others
I am not passing this off to anyone right now, I really wouldn't want to ambush somebody who has done it before. If it is something you would enjoy doing, just leave me a comment.
TGIF! especially as it is the beginning of a three day weekend. Enjoy yours! :-)

WOW! I am first! I hope you have a great weekend! great list of songs there...glad you are feeling better too!
Thanks TG, and you aren't disappointed because DMB isn't on the my list? ;)
Coolest diver of the net is back to life! :) ... That's good... Hope those bugs are really far, far from you now...
Now, how come I'm working on monday???? what holiday is over there??? I think I'm on the wrong country on the wrong weekend!!! ;)
It is "Memorial Day" on Monday, MrG, a day to honor those who gave their lives serving our country.
It is also the official opening weekend of the summer season, when all the parks, pools, beaches, etc., come to life.
You should beam yourself over here and enjoy it!
I am a HUGE Double Trouble fan and ADORE Johnny Lang! And of course Dobe, Layla, the ENTIRE album especially Thorn Tree. XXP
What is up? What are the plans? This needs a lil explaination; when, where?
Thank you for doing the list.
couldn't agree with you more, Patti, a great album
Shirazi, evidentally American is not a codeshare partner of Delta airlines in the caribbean, but because a huge amount of people were affected by Air Jamaica discontinuing flights, they are currently negotiating an agreement, but it might take up to two weeks to finalize. So, I won't know what's up until then. Is that what you meant?
Rafe, thanks for your patience, but you didn't even comment on my selections, dude! lol
Thanks for the holiday info, DB...
At least you won't have to dread Monday this weekend... Uh-oh, if it's a holiday that means people are not going to work... And maybe I should give my mom a call (yep, my parents are living in the States at this moment)... She's been leaving these "Son, we love you, you are never home" sort of messages for almost two weeks now... *Guilt writing on my face now* I'm a horrible son!!!... I never answer!!! Oh, boy, I knew you'd get me in trouble DB!!!
;)
Yep. Definitely. You should call my mom and make up a excuse for me... After all, I didn't know it was a holiday until I read your blog today!!!
that's right, blame it on me for you being a horrible son, lol
I tried to call your Mom, the message on the answering machine said that they would be away finalizing the adoption of their new son, they always wanted one ;)
I knew this was bound to happen!!!
...and it's probably a brand new little baby that everybody will love!!!
hhhh... airlines... they're such a mess right now... delta?? i had baddd experience w/ them... i've been trying to avoid dealing w/ them the best i can. jetblue is the best so far, but i'm not sure if they go to your destination. good luck!
o. I didnot mean that. I wanted to know if you are going to be away again. For how long?
Welcome back DB.
Thanks for your kind comments - much appreciated.
Sorry to hear about the airlines thing. What a bummer
OOOO Stevie Ray Vaughn mmmmmmm
MrG, you might want to call and remind your Mom that she already has a son, and so what if everyone will love your new brother more? lol
iluvnyc - we haven't had any trouble with delta before, american yes, delta no, and to be fair, Delta had no control of Air Jamaica choosing to stop flying to our destination. I have fly jet blue domestically, it really is a good airline. Thanks for dropping by.
Shirazi - I leave next Saturday for 1 week. That trip in September is 2 weeks.
Fizzy - not a problem, and I really hope your Mom improves soon, and you better be getting the rest you need.
Stevie Ray was just the best, wasn't he?
I am so glad you are feeling better!!
And I also thank you for your comments on my post yesterday.
I hope you can get things worked out for your trip.
thanks dl, so do I. It's a small frustration compared to what many bloggers are going through right now.
I hope your evening was a good one :)
I love songs 1 & 3 too. :-)
I'm sorry you were so sick but glad the bug finally left you in time for the weekend.
Delta better do some arranging!
Have a good one! *hugs*
Yes, db, I did have a nice evening.
Oh, BTW, I was doing a search on the internet for real estate out in your neck of the woods. If you have any suggestions on what areas are best, I would really appreciate it!!
Great song choices! I've always liked Layla and Desperado and many songs by Metallica. Too bad about the airline mix-up, hope it all gets sorted out.
And it's a holiday weekend!!!!
Have a fun, wonderful weekend.
I'm sorry, that was extremely rude of me... Again please direct all rants to the fiend. What no U2? LOL. The Reason is a good song, but due to the massive overplay on the radio waves, it got very tiring, quickly.
I've got something very similar in the works for my blog... if I can ever get the darn thing done! LOL. Love some of your songs. The Eagles are one of my fave bands in the world!
Have an awesome weekend, hope everything works out for your trip!
oh dear, I do hope things get sorted out for you with the flights etc. I also hope you're feeling better and that you're having a nice relaxing weekend.
BTW, I finally got around to doing the 10 things list that you tagged me for. No more of them though ok? I won't tag you if you don't tag me *shakes hands* right, that's settled then lol
Have a wonderful weekend db!! Now where did I put that paintbrush?...
Stevie ray vaughn, gary moore, Eric clapton ... any guitar players... makes me go weak just to listen to them
Karen - you have a great one yourself, and aren't you suppose to be in a cabin somewhere?
db - I don't know your price range, etc. City or suburbs? I am not sure where the best deals are really, but can tell you in the City, stay away from the immediate eastside and the southside. The north and northwest are pricey. If you are willing to commute, and alot of folks drive an hour to get to work, you could live in a more rural setting.
b2g - have a great holiday too, I hope you are dryer than I am, but I think not.
Rafe - you rude dog, oops -- that was meant for the fiend, lol
I agree that the Reason suffered overkill, but I still like it
Thanks RA, I have been getting edgy all afternoon wondering if I should maybe not wait. What if it doesn't work out, and we cannot get a flight at all?
I think the Eagles are great too, I don't know anyone who doesn't like them.
Enjoy!
Sara, I am feeling just fine now, but it really was a hell of a virus.
I will have to see your list, be there shortly
dl - forgive me, I am drowsy & dopey. I just replied to your real estate comment, and replied to myself instead of dl. I will blame it on the rain, ok? lol
Brighton - yeah, where is that paintbrush, and where are you? I thought you would have started by now ;) Have a great weekend!
Fizzy - as everyone knows, Clapton is GOD, but SRV was almost there, and would have been just as great if he could have stuck around.
definately DB.
talking to yourself, Huh?
LOL
That's ok, it happens.
We are looking at the Akron area, not in the city though. He can get a job transfer there. I was just wondering if it's as nice there as I have heard. I was looking at real estate and I couldn't believe how cheap the houses are compared to here.
oooooo DL is here too
Yep, but not for long, I need to find something to eat and there's a Mel Gibson movie coming on tv that I want to watch.
I have the whole house to myself, I can watch tv nekkid if I want. I won't but, it's the thought that I CAN.
ok, that last comment woke me up, dl, lolol
I have no idea about the Akron area, sorry, can't help you there, but I'll ask a few people and see if I can find out anything.
Oh, you are awake now!! Goody, too bad I am going to go watch my movie now. I will have to check back during the commercial breaks and make sure you are still up. LOL
Anyway, I don't want you to go to any trouble, it's really no big deal, I just thought you might have an idea. :)
But if you insist... LOL
I am trying to think of somebody from that area, I think I will have to ask around, but will do so gladly.
Enjoy watching Mel, nekkid, I am sure he would appreciate it ;)
LOL
